🌧️ Rain, 🎶 Haydn, and… 💩 Sewage?
If it wasn’t raining, we took every opportunity we could to work outside.
If it was raining, we were knee-deep in real estate—and later, quite literally, something far less poetic.
🌟 Grateful to Be Busy
May was a gift. Even though the market continues to feel sluggish, we were honoured to be top producers in our office again last month. That’s not something we take for granted. We’re so thankful to be working with amazing clients who continue to trust us, rain or shine (or sewage… keep reading).
🌱 Yardwork, Music, and Majesty
Whenever the skies cleared, we were outside doing our best to fight back against the swamp that is our yard after a wet spring. Rolling, aerating, weed control, fertilizing, and then giving the lawn its first cut once the rain stopped long enough! At that point, we probably could have baled the first cut and sold the hay. 😅
And when we weren’t up to our elbows in grass clippings and playing pick-up-sticks, we were singing. 🎵 The choir we sing with, the Oxford Collegium Singers, wrapped up its season with a rousing performance of Haydn’s The Creation, a stunning musical depiction of, well, the creation of everything. Music may fall short of expressing the full weight and wonder of that moment, but if anyone came close to composing a masterpiece that painted the awe-inspiring “firsts” of that first week, it was Haydn. It was a powerful reminder of God’s glory, and of the beauty of celebrating something and Someone so much bigger than ourselves.
😬 Real Life Hits… the Basement
Just when we thought we couldn’t pack anything more into our days, the sewage pump in our basement decided to retire, leaving us with a very unwanted… situation. 💩
For the new pump, Henk visited the good people at Winona Concrete & Pipe Products, and this time, he installed a high-water alarm along with it! As our kids would say:
“Big brain. Big brain.”
We’re now in clean-up mode, removing everything that was damaged or lost, and packing away everything that was off the ground. Once that’s complete, demolition, disinfection, cleaning, and rebuilding will commence!
📊 May Market Update – Hamilton
Here’s a quick snapshot of what happened in the local market last month:
📈 Unit Sales: 532
↗️ Up 14.16% from April – that’s 5 months in a row of increased sales
📉 Median Price: $715,000
Down 3.38% from April – a continued sign of a buyer-favoured market
🏡 Inventory: 4.4 months of supply
Up 3.87% from April – second month in a row of rising inventory
It’s clear: buyers are active, but they’re still cautious, and price sensitivity remains high. Sellers need to be strategic, and pricing and staging matter more than ever.
