β¨ FAMILY & HOME UPDATE
December has arrived, and with it the familiar warmth and anticipation of the Christmas season. Our home is fully decorated, with our tree glowing in the living room, twinkling lights throughout the house, and a large Christmas wreath above the front door that shines beautifully each night as we wait expectantly for the celebration of the Saviour of the world.
It has also been a month full of activity for our family. Jacob travelled to Gravenhurst with the Smithville Storm’s senior boys’ volleyball team to compete in OFSAA, where they played exceptionally well and finished fourth overall, bringing home the antique bronze medal. Congratulations to the Storm for placing 4th in Ontario!
Chiara spent November caring for her animals as she winterized the chicken and duck coops. With heaters and heated water bowls in place, her feathered friends are all set for the colder months ahead. She continues to look after them with dedication and care.
Emese has had a very full season of music, as is to be expected at this time of year! She has led the Smithville Christian High School Choir at West Lincoln’s tree lighting as well as a Christmas market in town, blessing people with fun, joyful music. She continues to rehearse with the children at Winona Gospel Church for the music at the annual Christmas Play, and every Sunday after the morning service, both Henk and Emese work with the church choir for the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, a great tradition at WGC. Amidst all of this, she and Henk participated in recording a choral album in memory of Caleb Averink, a fellow chorister whose life was tragically lost in a workplace accident. The project was filled with some fantastic choral works, all of which provide solace, comfort and an eager anticipation and hope in God’s promises.
With these moments, both celebrated and quiet, we enter this season grateful for the blessings God has placed in our lives.

π οΈ WHAT WEβRE SEEING ON THE GROUND
Even as prices continue to soften and the market leans in favour of buyers, we are still very busy showing homes to motivated clients who are eager to take advantage of this shift. Lower prices, stabilizing conditions, and increased opportunities are bringing many buyers back into the search, especially those who were previously discouraged by the competitive market of the past few years.
On the listing side, we are also actively preparing new homes for the market, something we don’t experience often at this time of year! One is a beautiful 3+1 bedroom family home with a beautiful in-ground pool next to a park and a few steps from the lake in Grimsby, and the other is a rural home with 4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, and a sizeable shop. This rural property will be priced below $700,000, making it an excellent option for a young family, someone who needs the shop for their profession, or first-time home buyers looking for space and value.
This combination of active buyers and new inventory positions the early months of 2026 to be an encouraging season for those considering a move.

π―οΈ A REFLECTION FOR THE SEASON
December tends to slow the pace of life, even in our busiest seasons. In Dutch, there is a word that captures so many of the evenings in December. That word is “gezellig”. It means “cozy”, but it’s more than that. It speaks to a warmth, especially the warmth shared between people. It’s an environment of solace and enjoyment, warmth and togetherness.
The earlier evenings, the soft lights, and the traditions we return to each year draw our attention back to the hope and meaning that define this time of year. As our family celebrates, sings, rehearses, travels, and remembers, we are reminded that this season is ultimately about grace. It is about God entering our world and bringing light that no darkness can overcome.
